The first step in customizing sheet metal stamping parts is to confirm product requirements and prepare drawings or samples. Customers can provide 2D engineering drawings, 3D models, or directly send physical samples. It is best to clearly mark the overall dimensions, plate thickness, hole location, tolerance requirements, and stamping-related parameters such as bending angle and flanging height on the drawings. If there are assembly requirements, other components that need to be matched with the part should also be specified to facilitate engineers to evaluate the feasibility of the process. If the drawings are not perfect enough, we can also assist with simple process optimization to avoid designing structures that are difficult to stamp and form.
The second step is material selection. The plates suitable for different working conditions vary greatly, and the selection directly affects the strength, anti-corrosion performance and overall quotation of the finished product. Cold-rolled steel plates have strong versatility and moderate costs, and are mostly used for ordinary brackets and covers; 304 and 316 stainless steel are suitable for humid or corrosive environments; aluminum alloys are light in weight and are often used in instrument casings and electronic control accessories; copper materials are mostly used in conductive shrapnel and terminals. When selecting the plate, you must also determine the thickness of the plate. The thickness will directly affect the difficulty of stamping, mold design and part rigidity.
The third step is process plan evaluation and sample production. After receiving the drawings and material requirements, the entire processing process will be evaluated to determine which stamping processes are required, such as blanking, punching, bending, beading, or deep drawing. At the same time, the mold plan is evaluated, and the mold cost and production cycle are estimated. After the plan is confirmed, it enters the sample trial production stage. Samples are the best way to test the design effect. When customers get samples, they can test the assembly, strength and appearance on the spot to confirm whether they meet the needs of the entire machine. If problems are found during the sample stage, the cost of modification is minimal.
Once the sample is confirmed to be qualified, you can enter the mass production process. Before formal production, the mold will be debugged to control dimensional tolerances and reduce errors between products of the same batch. During the production process, we will continue to randomly check the size and appearance to control common defects such as burrs and deformation. After the sheet metal stamping parts are formed, secondary processing can also be provided, including deburring, tapping, drilling and other processes.
Batch processing is completed, and surface treatment can also be arranged on demand. Common options include galvanizing, blackening, plastic spraying, passivation, and anodizing. Different treatment methods have different rust prevention capabilities, appearance texture, and cost. Customers can choose according to the use environment. For example, for outdoor use, plastic spraying or galvanizing with better anti-rust effect are preferred.
In the customization process, there are a few details that everyone is advised to pay more attention to. When designing parts, try to avoid bending corners that are too small and cantilever structures that are too narrow. Such structures are difficult to stamp and form, and the finished product is prone to cracking. If the product needs to work in a vibrating environment for a long time, the pressure ribs can be added to improve the rigidity. In addition, the tolerance level should be clarified in advance. Excessive tolerance requirements will increase production costs, so just use enough.
Whether it is small batch sample development or follow-up large batch orders, the entire process remains flexible. All finished products come with inspection records to meet overseas project acceptance and customs clearance needs. If you have customization needs for sheet metal stamping parts, you can start process evaluation and quotation by preparing drawings or samples.
